WHAT TO EXPECT

MY APPROACH

Applied

I take an applied approach in my classes, encouraging my students to practice mind-body wellness on and off the mat.

I teach you the Why behind the How, give you tips and techniques that you can apply in your everyday life.

Embodied

Yoga is about the mind-body connection. Building strength, balance and flexibility outside and in, balancing effort with surrender.
Alignment cues will bring you into your body to cultivate interoception.

Anatomy tips and techniques to enhance your practice, so you learn to practice on your own.

Accessible

Anyone can learn yoga, regardless of age or health status. It's about meeting yourself where YOU'RE at, and going from there.

To ensure classes suits your level of experience you will be guided through each and every posture, and variations will be offered.

Traditional

Classes can include breathwork (pranayama), mudra, mantra and meditation, weaving in yogic philosophy around the path to self-realisation.

Ultimately you have to do the work, but if I can help you take the first step, I am blessed!

FACTS ABOUT YOGA

Facts About YOGA

1. Decreases Stress

Studies show that yoga can help ease stress and lower your levels of the stress hormone cortisol, the primary stress hormone.

2. Relieves anxiety

Yoga emphasizes the importance of being present in the moment and finding a sense of peace, which could help treat anxiety.

3. Improves Heart Health

Alone or in combination with a healthy lifestyle, yoga may help decrease risk factors for heart disease.

4. Improves Quality Of Life

Practicing yoga can help to balance your mood, reduce fatigue, reduce pain, whilst also improving levels of invigoration, acceptance and relaxation.

5. Helps Fight depression

Yoga is able to decrease levels of cortisol, a stress hormone that influences levels of serotonin, the neurotransmitter often associated with depression

6. Promotes Sleep Quality

Yoga has been shown to increase the secretion of melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep and wakefulness. Yoga also has a significant effect on anxiety, depression and stress — all common contributors to sleep problems.

7. Improves Flexibility & Balance

Practicing just 15–30 minutes of yoga each day could make a big difference for those looking to enhance performance by increasing flexibility and balance.

8. Improves Breathing

Pranayama, or yogic breathing, is a practice in yoga that focuses on controlling the breath through breathing exercises and techniques. Most of my yoga classes incorporate breathing exercises. Improving breathing can help build endurance, optimize performance and keep your lungs and heart healthy.

9. Increases Strength

In addition to improving flexibility, yoga is a great addition to an exercise routine for its strength-building benefits. There are specific poses in yoga that are designed to increase strength and build muscle.

YOU'LL BE LEARNING WITH ME - JESS HOLLIDAY

Hi! I’m Jess,

I am a certified Yoga Breathing Coach, Yoga & Meditation teacher and entrepreneur. In a previous life, I worked in Luxury & Fashion Marketing in the UK for 15 years, transitioning into Mind-Body Wellness in 2016.

I tried my first yoga class on a trip to India, and something just clicked. I’d worked out in the gym before doing cardio and weights, but yoga brought me into my body in a completely different way. I continued to learn yoga, meditation and breathing throughout India, Nepal, Guatemala and Peru, and I qualified as an Ashtanga Yoga instructor in India in 2017.

Yoga increased my strength, balance and flexibility, increased my self-awareness, reduced my stress response, and I sleep like a baby. It didn’t happen overnight, but my life has changed forever and it continues to evolve. I’m in better condition mentally and physically than I was in my 20’s. My passion is to teach and empower you with the tools, space and support they need to bring out their best.

For me, Yoga is about the mind-body connection. Building strength, balance and flexibility outside and in, balancing effort with surrender. My classes combine dynamic vinyasa flows with emphasis on alignment, philosophy, breathing and meditation.
